[Class 52 (iii)] In extensible tables having a central panel e adapted to be depressed against the action of springs f<2> to allow end leaves a to -slide over it, the guides for the end leaves comprise metal bars h overhanging the longitudinal members b of the supporting frame and metal bars i fixed to the undersides of the end leaves, one at each side, so as to extend inwardly beneath the bars h. The two end leaves a are connected for simultaneous operation by links d and a centrally-pivoted lever c. The centre panel e is supported by the springs f<2> which surround bolts f fitted in slotted members g attached to transverse beams b<3>. The bars h are fitted to the ends of the longitudinal members b leaving between them a space into which the central panel is lowered. At each end of the bars i are fixed balls i<3> which come in contact with the under surface of the bars h in the fully extended and fully contracted positions to hold the end leaves firmly in these positions. Strips of felt are applied to the inner sides of the end leaves to prevent scratching of the central panel. Tongues and grooves which may be of V-shape are arranged on the abutting edges of the central panel and end leaves. The helical springs f<2> may be replaced by leaf springs. The bolts f and the metal bars h, i may be fixed in determined position by the use of templates.
