Abstract

Pivoted sliding sashes; sashes balanced one against another.- Two sliding sashes which are balanced one against another by racks engaging common pinions 16 on the frame are adapted to pivot about the pinions, being maintained in engagement therewith bv hook-shaped strips 18, 19, secured to the sashes. Weather-strips 8, 9, sunk in grooves in the frame engage grooves in the sashes and portions 5, 6, of the strips are depressed into the frame to allow the sashes to pivot by means of cranks 22 on spindles 20 in the frame rotated by keys. The meeting end of the movable and fixed sections of the strips are correspondingly chamfered.
