438,080. Bed-settees. GREAVES, F. A., and THOMAS, A. J., (trading as GREAVES & THOMAS), Amherst Works, Northwold Road, Clapton, London.-(Seng Co. ; 1450, Drayton Street, Lincoln Park Station, Chicago, U.S.A.) Aug. 23, 1934, No. 24298. [Class 52 (ii)] A divan comprises a hollow portion adapted to be pushed over another part on which is mounted, on a link system, an invertible mattress frame. The Figure shows a divan 1 with, at its rear, an opening 2 through which may pass a framing 3, supporting in an inverted position a mattress 16 on a frame 18 which, when withdrawn, may be inverted at the level of the part 1 to form a double bed. The framing 3 comprises two end members fitted with links 19, 20 and springs 25, 26 which facilitate the inversion of the mattress 16. Latches 6 connect the two parts when the part 3 is drawn out, but they may be lifted to enable them to be separated. In the form described above the part 1 is usually pushed over the part 3, and to facilitate this it is mounted on spring-fitted rollers or castors 8. In a modification, the links 19, 20 are transposed, and the parts 1, 3 are connected by a lazy-tongs device.
