[Class 7 (iii).] Leakage is prevented at the outer end of a needle valve b by a seating s formed at the inner end of a gland nut el which serves as a guide for a sliding member b<1> through which the pressure of a spring is transmitted to the needle valve. The lift of the valve may be varied by inserting washers f of different thickness between the gland nut e<1> and the valve body. In a modified construction the portions b, bl of the valve are made in one piece, a flat shoulder then coacting with a flat inner face on the member e<1>.
