Abstract

347,950. Kinematograph apparatus. MYNARD, A. E., 256, Narborough Road, Leicester. June 20, 1930, No. 18819. [Class 97 (i).] A film gate for use with sound-reproducing apparatus of the light-controlled type comprises a fixed portion 2 and a portion 3, movable in the direction of the axis of the gate. The movable portion is carried by a hollow cylindrical member 7 axially movable within an outer cylindrical portion 8a of a member 8 fixed to the housing for the photoelectric cell. Diametrically opposite pins 10 extend radially from the member 7 into slots 11a in a collar 11 rotatable on the member 8a. A spring 12, Fig. 2, inside the member 7 urges the movable portion of the gate towards the fixed. The pins 10 project through straight diametrically opposite slots 8c parallel with the axis of the member 8a and withhold the member 7 from rotation. The lower extremity 13a of the radially extending handle 13 screwed into the collar 11 enters a circumferential slot 8d in the member 8a, retaining the collar 11 from axial movement. The slot 11a is wider at one extremity to allow thickened parts of the film to pass through the gate. Means are described to position the film in the gate, and are automatically displaced to an inoperative position when the gate is opened.
