Abstract
347,627. Filters. SHAW, H. S. HELE- and BEACHAM, T. E., 64, Victoria Street, London, Jan. 23, 1930, No. 2366. [Class 46.] Liquid is forced by air or gas under pressure from a vessel a through a pipe a<7> into a casing b and through a hollow filtering element b<1>, held against a removable cover b<11> by a central rod b<10>, the filtrate being discharged through a three-way cock b<50> and pipe b<16>. Air or gas is supplied to the vessel a through a three-way cock b<6>. To cleanse the filter element it is removed with the cover b<11> from the casing and air or gas, supplied from the cock b<6> through a flexible pipe b<4> and the cock b<50>, is passed in the reverse direction through the element. The filter may be heated by gas, electricity or a paraffin lamp. As shown, the element b<1> is of the edge filter type and an electric heater c controlled by a rheostat c<1> is fitted in an outer casing d.
