726,147. Filters. ALEXANDRE, G. July 24, 1953 [Aug. 26, 1952], No. 20655/53. Class 46. The construction of a casing, intended to be connected to a liquid (e.g. water) supply pipe, is such that either filtered or unfiltered liquid may be drawn from it, or both simultaneously. Liquid entering a central chamber 6 of a casing 1, Fig. 1, from a pipe coupling 7, Fig. 2, may take either or both of the paths F<SP>1</SP>, F<SP>2</SP>, depending upon whether openings 22, 23 are open, or closed by their respective cocks 24, 25. Liquid reaching the part 10 of the peripheral chamber 27 through the opening 22 leaves without filtration, by a nozzle 12, mounted in a stuffing-box 26 so as to be capable of pivoting. That reaching the part 11 through the opening 23 traverses a passage 13, Figs. 1 and 2, in the recessed front wall of the body, and through a filter plate 4: mounted in a seating 3 surrounding the recess. It then passes through a strainer 20 secured by a screw 21 to a lid 14 and out through a nozzle 18. The lid 14 serves to clamp the filter plate 4 in position and is itself secured by peripheral screws 16 and wing-nuts 15.
