345,920. Fuel-injection pumps. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Sept. 2, 1930, No. 26198. Convention date, Oct. 1, 1929. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel pump of the type in which the plunger 3 is rotated in order to vary the amount of fuel injected, the release being effected by uncovering the suction port 2, the plunger and the barrel 17 are constructed to permit withdrawal upwardly. For this purpose the sleeve 11, which is formed with slots 12 engaging projections 13 on the plunger and is rotated by a rack 9, is of reduced diameter at its lower end, and the projections 13 are of less diameter than the external diameter of the barrel 11. The latter is secured by a stud 16. The connection of the plunger 3 with the crosshead 8, which engages the cam 7, is effected by a bayonet joint, the elongated end 15 of the plunger being inserted in a slot in the crosshead and secured by rotation.
