345,874. Electric resistance furnaces. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A. -(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) May 15, 1930, No. 14985. Convention date, May 15, 1929. [Class 39 (iii).] Each heating element of an electric furnace is supported on a single rod sliding in a groove in the roof or wall of the furnace. The Figure shows a rod 3 of T- section sliding in a corresponding groove in the furnace roof and carrying insulators 6 from which the heating-element 8 is suspended by straps 7. Several forms of rod and methods of attaching the heating element thereto, including an arrangement for use with a vertical wall, are described. The rod may consist of several articulated sections so that it may be passed into a transverse groove in an arched roof.
