Abstract

384,387. Lighting fires heating air by electricity. SCHOTTKY, W., 98c, Westend-Allee, Charlottenburg, Berlin.- (Assignee of Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges. ; Siemensstadt, Berlin.) Sept. 25, 1931, No. 26807. Convention date, Sept. 26, 1930. [Classes 39 (iii) and 126.] A portable igniter comprises a blower combined with an electric heating device, the construction being such that the air is raised to a temperature sufficient to ignite solid fuel. A temperature of 800‹ C. is referred to. The device may have a ceramic mouthpiece subdivided longitudinally in honeycomb fashion each division containing a heating element. The blower may be rotary or vibratory. The device may be mounted on a stand which may carry a fuel holder. The switch may be of a type which must be held closed by hand. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 electric heaters may be built into stoves or furnaces air being supplied by fans, from a compressed air system, or by draught induced by a chimney. Application to heating in forging and hardening operations is mentioned. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
