Abstract

359,115. Electric resistance furnaces. WHITE, S. D. and CUTTS, V. O., Magnet House, Kingsway, London. Aug. 26, 1930, No. 25487. [Class 39 (iii).] Heating resistances are supported by hooks 1, the stems of which are bent to engage in recesses 5 in the lining to allow complete or partial rotation of the hooks. Lateral movement is permitted by the provision of tapered holes 2. In a modification, the bent ends of the hooks may be inserted through elongated holes (see Fig. 2, not shown), and rotated to engage in the recesses, the holes being subsequently closed by refractory material. Fig. 5 shows a lining block having a groove 61 and a segmental recess 5<1>. The recesses may merge into a groove.
