Abstract

Supplying and controlling consuming devices.- In a sign having two compartments illuminated alternately by two sets of lamps of different resistances so that when current passes through both only the one of higher reistance is fully illuminated, the high resistance lamps are periodically short-circuited by a thermal switch. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement in which the thermal switch 14 is normally open. With current passing through both lamps 10, 11 only the lamp 11 is lit, but when the switch 14 heats up and makes the shunt 16 - - 19, the lamp 11 is cut out and the lamp 10 glows. Fig. 2 shows a thermal switch normally closed, and opening, as it gets hot, to transfer the glow from the lamp 10 to the lamp 11.
