[Class 37.] A heating element for. ar immersion heater comprises a cast iron former 1 with twc grooves 2, 3 arranged along its length on each of two opposite sides, each pair being united at one end of the former. A coiled resistance wire 4 is embedded in fireclay or other refractory material which is finished off level with the top of the grooves. A casing 6 of aluminium, brass, or other metal is then cast around the element. The heater may be of circular or other cross-section instead of rectangular as shown.
