Abstract
442,955. Electric hot - plates. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and HUMPHREYS, O. W., c /o General Electric Co., Ltd., Wembley, Middlesex. Sept. 25, 1934, No. 27498. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric hot-plate consists of sheathed heating elements 1 and 2 formed into a close wound and exposed grid. By close wound it is implied that the adjacent windings of the grid must not be separated by gaps of width more than one tenth of the diameter of the elements forming the grid. By exposed it is implied that metal is not deposited on the grid to a sufficient extent to render it substantially a plate in appearance. The windings of the grid may, however, be brazed together provided this limit is not exceeded. If the grid is in the form of an annulus its central aperture may be closed by a plate. The whole of the grid may also be covered with a thin plate to prevent spilled liquids passing through the grid.
