[Class 39 (iii)] An electric hot-plate comprises a coil 10 formed at one or both ends with a coil portion of tapering diameter 11, embedded in refractory material contained in grooves 12, 13, 14 formed in one side of a metal plate. By this means, a greater thickness of refractory material is provided at the ends between the coil and the grooves.
