Abstract
436,405. Electric resistances. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and RYCROFT, J. L., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. June 27,1934, No. 19014. [Class 37] In the manufacture of an electric heating element, a metal tube 6 having a longitudinal strip removed is filled with a plastic refractory material, and is then moved horizontally through holes in two parallel supports such as 4 while a rotary disc 5 forms a groove in the material. The tube is then heated to harden the refractory material and the resistor is laid in the groove and covered with refractory material which is hardened by heating again. The completed tube is then placed within an outer tube 11 or may be cast into a block of any form. The tube 6 or the complete element may be formed as a flat spiral.
