329,518. Betting, C. R. May 29, 1929. Resistance ovens.- In an electric oven, the heating element extends peripherally around the cooking space and is formed of a number of separate units. The element comprises a rectangular frame d, e, f, g, slidable into an external oven casing and having on its outer surface grooves h which accommodate resistance wires i maintained in position by a metal covering or lagging k; an inner sheet l of asbestos may be used. A modification of the heating member is formed from units r, Fig. 6, adapted to fit together along contacting edges s, in which holes or ducts t ensure circulation of the heated air. The wire coverings in this case may be dispensed with and the groove edges need not contact with the inner surface of the outer casing. The hinges of the oven door may be carried by supports on either side of the framework, duplicate latch catches being provided.
