Abstract
345,403. Cartons for powders &c. LEVER BROS., Ltd., and OWEN, T., 230, New Chester Road, both in Port Sunlight, Cheshire. Jan. 23, 1930, No. 2451. [Classes 18 and 66.] A carton for holding and distributing powdered material &c. having end closing flaps 6 .. 9 has the end arranged to be opened by the complete rupture of the adhesive seal between the final end flap 9 and the flap 8 immediately underlying it, the flap 8 being weakened so that it will buckle readily under pressure applied near the end of the carton at the side 5 of which the flap 8 is an extension and cause the separation of the two flaps. As shown the flap 8 is weakened by removing a substantial portion thereof and leaving a central gap 10 so that the flap has a U-shaped marginal surface to which the flap 9 is secured. The wing pieces of the flap 8 are of approximately the same dimensions as the underlying end flaps 6, 7, and the flap 8 may be weakened by incisions or by reducing its thickness.
