Abstract
345,241. Combing-machines. NASMITH, J. W., Leegate, Mauldeth Road, Heaton Mersey, Manchester. Dec. 18, 1929, No. 38733. Addition to 339,301, [Class 120 (i), Spinning, Preparation &c. for]. [Class 120 (i).] The detaching and piecing mechanism described in the parent Specification is modified in that the detaching roller D and top piecing roller P<1> are mounted in bearings which are movable simultaneously to and from the nippers whilst ensuring the intermittent contact of the roller D with the combing cylinder segment S. The neck of the detaching roller D is embraced by a curved part 10 of the weight hook 9 which is reciprocated horizontally by a cam-oscillated driving shaft 3, the weight hook 9 also having an extension 11 carrying on an arm 14 the top piecing roller P<1>. The neck of the detaching roller D is also embraced by the bifurcated end of a lever 20 pivoted at 19 on a lever 15 adjustable about a pivot 16. The rollers are shown in the extreme forward position. The shaft 3 then rotates anticlockwise, the roller p<1> rolls back on the lower piecing roller P while the roller D rolls on the segment S until it reaches the bottom of the fork in the lever 20 and then is lifted therefrom.
