Abstract

345,148. Vehicle door fastenings. BREEDEN, C. L., Llanbedr, Billesley Lane, Moseley, Birmingham. May 12, 1930, No. 14532. [Class 44.] The latch-bolt b for a motor vehicle &c. door is shot by a spring c and may be withdrawn by a follower d on the spindle h of an outside handle, or by a lever e connected by a link j with an inside handle lever (not shown), the members d, e engaging corresponding projections f, g on the bolt. A pivoted lever m biassed by a spring n is adapted to be rocked by movement of lever e in a direction opposite to that in which it is moved to withdraw the bolt, so causing the right-hand end of lever m to engage a shoulder o on follower d to lock the outside handle, the upper end of lever e engaging a recess p in lever m to prevent accidental release from locking position. Normally, an inclined surface on lever m engages the correspondingly inclined upper end of lever e to prevent accidental movement into the locking position.
