Abstract

343,113. Binding edges of sheet material. LœBCKE, E., 19, Koppenstrasse, Berlin. Oct. 12, 1929, No. 31065. [Classes 16 and 73.] The edges of sheets of paper or other material are reinforced by means of a separate reinforcing- strip, coated with dry adhesive capable of being softened by heat, in an apparatus which heats and folds the strip and applies it to the sheet. The gummed reinforcing-strip b<1>, Fig. 2, is drawn from a reel b, and passes around a guide-roller d and through an electrically-heated member e, having folder-guides f, f<1>, Fig. 3, by which the strip is laid from opposite sides against the edge of the paper sheet o. Rollers g, h press the folded strip against the sheet. Additional reinforcement may be afforded by a thread o<1>, which is wound off a reel m, and, passing around the roller d, is laid in the fold of the strip. The heating means may be applied to the pressing-rollers.
