Abstract
342,522. Transparent wrapping paper. WICKEL, F. K., 7, Reinickstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Jan. 30, 1930, No. 3254. [Class 96.] Supple wrapping paper, which is transparent, waterproof, and greaseproof comprises a highly calendered sulphite paper impregnated with glycerine, or sodium lactate, &c. and subsequently coated with albumen, or casein, gelatine, &c. The rolls are subjected to pressure at a moderate temperature for 48 to 60 hour the glycerine being absorbed which occurs, to a weight of 25 to 40 per cent of that of the paper, without breaking the felting of the fibres. Excess of glycerine may be removed by scraping. Preferably egg albumen is used, dried, oxidized, and sterilized and may have added tanning materials, formaldehyde, glycerine, &c. and may contain 25 to 30 per cent of drying substances, and to avoid smell may be exposed to air for 24 to 48 hours or passed through chambers containing ozone. The product may finally be calendered and @.
