Abstract
299,520. Horii, S. July 29, 1927. Pulp, preparation of.-Japanese stencil paper for use in the production of stencil sheets for use on duplicating-machines is made by subjecting the bast tissue to the wet beating process until the degree of wetness reaches 40 to 60 beating units by the Schoper-Riegler beating tester. The finished paper is coated in the usual way with a coating-composition comprising waxes, gelatine, or cellulose esters combined with tempering-agents. In one example, the bast tissue is beaten wfith a wooden hammer for about five hours, and, in a second example, the tissue is subjected to free beating in a beating-engine for about twenty minutes followed by wet beating for about five hours.
