Abstract

468,845. Hair-waving. POLLAK, J. E. (Coriolan-Ges.) Jan. 13, 1936, No. 1121. [Class 131] Relates to a method of permanent hairwaving of the type in which the hair when subjected to the action of a waving lotion and in the presence thereof is wound on a support and thereupon heated, and consists in using as the lotion a solution of a mildly acid reacting material of organic or inorganic character which is non-destructive of the hair tissue and has a pH value under working conditions between 4À5 and 7'0. Examples of substances suitable for the lotion are bisulphites, preferably in the form of their addition products with aldehydes and ketones, alum, acid lactates, and adipic acid. Stabilizers may be added such as polyhydric alcohols, polysaccharides, albmnin solutions, cellulose ethers and other synthetic mucins or any soluble viscous materials which are harmless as cosmetics. Wetting-agents may also be added.
