Abstract

A brush or comb for dyeing hair has a hair-engaging portion formed of a water-soluble plastic material such as methyl cellulose or polyvinyl alcohol in which is incorporated a cationic dye together with an anionic detergent or an anionic dye together with a cationic detergent. Suitable solutions from which the bristles or teeth of the brush or comb are made comprise aqueous methyl cellulose or polyvinyl alcohol containing (1) stearyl dodecyl methyl benzyl ammonium chloride and brown AW or tartrazine, and (2) sodium lauryl sulphate, "Carbowax" (Registered Trade Mark), and methylene blue.
