Abstract
Cast iron alloys contain 2,7-3,33 per cent of carbon, 4,35,6 per cent of nickel, 1,6-1,9 per cent of chromium, 1,6-2,5 per cent of silicon, up to 0,14 per cent of sulphur, up to 1 per cent of phosphorus, and 0,5-1,5 per cent of manganese, with or without small amounts of tungsten, cobalt, molybdenum, or vanadium. The alloys may be heat-treated as described in Specification 342,334. Specifications 279,414 and 279,415, [both in Class 82 (i), Metals, Extracting &c.], also are referred to. According to the Provisional Specification, the proportions are somewhat wider.
