Abstract

341,704. Manufacture of silver-plated articles. WILKENS & SÍHNE AKT.- GES., M. H. and HENKE, G., Hemelingen, near Bremen, Germany. Jan. 10, 1930, No. 989. [Class 93.] Several successive silver layers are applied electrolytically or in any other suitable manner to a metallic non-ferrous support, each layer being consolidated by first rolling, pressing, hammering, &c. and then subjecting the article to red heat. A final silver layer may then be applied and the article shaped between polished dies. The mechanical working, rolling, pressing, &c., and the annealing may be the usual working steps by which the article is shaped from the blank e.g. in the manufacture of a spoon. The non-ferrous support is preferably an alloy containing a small proportion of silver.
