Abstract
1319466 Producing sintered dies or moulds TOYOTA CHUO KENKYUSHO K K 22 Sept 1970 [22 Sept 1969] 44960/70 Heading C7D [Also in Division B3] Sintered dies or moulds are made by placing a metal pattern 101 on a powder layer 51 of Fe or its alloys, Cu or its alloys, WC or Ti C in a frame 31, pressing the pattern into the powder to give the required shape and heating to infiltrate the pattern which has a lower melting point into the powder which is also sintered. The metal pattern may be Cu, Cu-Mn, Cu-Co, Pb, Pb-Sn, Pb-Cd, Fe, Cu or Ni or their alloys depending on the powder used. A pressing die with lower die 21, blank holder 22 and punch 23 is made by loading an Fe powder layer 51 on punch 41 in frame 3, placing the Cu pattern 10 of Fig. 3 on top of layer 51 and loading Fe powder layer 52 on the pattern. After compaction the compact is sintered in N 2 at 1120‹C. and after cooling the layers are easily parted along the pattern shape which has infiltrated into the Fe. A parting agent e.g. Al 2 O 3 or MgO powder may be used to coat the frame interior and the surface of the powder.
