Convention date, July 16, 1929. Addition to 312,081, [Class 40 (iv), Telephones &c.]. [Class 36.] In an oil-filled cable of the type described in the parent Specification in which channels for the flow of oil are provided by means placed between the lead sheath and the core insulation to form circumferential grooves connected by longitudinal passages, the channels 11 are formed by strips 9 having spaced indentations 10, the strips 9 being spirally wound on the insulation 7 of the core with a gap between each turn of the winding. The indentations 10 may project alternately from opposite sides of the strip, Fig. 2, and may be staggered. The indentations 10 may be formed on one side only of the strip, Fig. 4, or may be in the form of rounded projections, Fig. 5.
