Abstract

340,183. Savoye, P. A. March 12,1930. Hoods.-In closed vehicle bodies the roof is provided with an opening having upwardly projecting edges or ribs and tension devices whereby a waterproof canvas cloth &c. may be firmly pressed downwardly and stretched over said ribs to prevent access of rain water. As shown the opening 1 - - 4 is closed by a waterproof flexible cover 5 which is firmly held in place by means of cables, wires, &c., 7 secured to the roof at 8, passing through tubes 6<1> in the marginal edges 6 of the cover and detachably secured to lever fastenings 10. The cables 7 pass through eyes in the ends of a transverse rod 12 in the edge of the cover 5. The roof opening is provided with marginal raised portions or ribs 9. Means may be provided in connection with the cables for tensioning the cover. The cover may be folded and secured by straps 31 as shown.
