Abstract

338,665. Siemens & Halske Akt.- Ges. Oct. 5, 1928, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes.-In a discharge device, more particularly a double-wave gas-filled rectifier, having an electrode support wire 2 surrounded by a glass tube 4 which is fused for a part of its length into the press 1 to avoid injurious discharges such as backignition, the glass tube is fused with a material 5 which is placed between the support and tube, and has a coefficient of expansion similar to that of the glass. A quartz tube may be placed over the support and glass tube, and may extend from the press up to the electrode. A constantan support 2 is formed with a platinum sealing-in wire 3 and is wound with copper foil over which the glass tube is forced. The glass and copper are then fused together, the, upper and lower ends of the glass tube being slightly turned over.
