Abstract

337,544. Stainer, W. W., and Taylor, E. Oct. 2, 1929. Pressure-regulating valves.-A pressure regulator actuated by a sealed Bourdon tube has the tube arranged in a closed chamber, the inlet to which is controlled by the valve. The Bourdon tube 5 is carried by a bracket 7 adjustably secured to the casing by a stud 8 passing through an arcuate slot 10 and is adapted to be charged initially with fluid under pressure through an orifice adapted to be sealed by a plug 13. The free end of the tube is linked to a bell crank lever 23 turning on a fixed pivot 15 and linked to a sleeve 20 adjustably secured to the valve spindle. The valve member comprises a block of ebonite 24 and co-operates with a knife edged seat 22 formed in the inlet fitting 2. A second Bourdon tube open to atmosphere may be fitted to modify the characteristics of the first tube or may effect an independent control.
