Abstract
336,531. Holmes, J., and Kingcome, H. A. Feb. 11, 1930. Water-tube boilers comprise groups of vertical Field tubes extending transversely through the flue gas pass. The outer tubes A of each group are suspended from the bottom wall of a circulating chamber E and the inner tubes B from a partition F, the chamber compartments being connected at each end to steam and water drums L at a higher level parallel to the flue so that the chambers are always flooded. An additional group of tubes unconnected with the drums may be provided for feed water heating. In the form shown the boiler is heated by waste combustion gases; a combustion chamber may, however, be provided at the front end. Ash hoppers T are located below the tube groups and isolated therefrom by doors V operable from the exterior. The inner tubes B have spring guide, fins C at their lower end and the end of tubes A is closed by a deflector plug D.
