336,459. Pierce, J. H. Nov. 5, 1928, [Convention date]. Pumps, centrifugal.-In an engine arranged with the crank shaft vertical, the inlet to the crank case is controlled by a rotary disc valve 50 pressed against the upper wall of the crank case and provided with a port fitted with radial blades which acelerate the inflow of mixture. The pitch of the blades is varied both circumferentially and radially to give a uniform flow.
