Abstract
369,875. Collecting leakage oil from bearings. AVIONS, H. M. D. FARMAN, 167, Rue de Silly, Billancourt, Seine, France. Oct. 13, 1931, No. 28397. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1930. [Class 12 (i).] In an internal-combustion engine wherein oil leaking from the big-end bearing 3, Fig. 2, is projected, either direct or through a nozzle 6 secured to an overhanging cap 7 secured to the crank 2, into an annular collecting gutter 1 concentric with the crank shaft and provided at its lower part with an outlet 9, Fig. 3, the gutter is provided interiorly along at least part of its periphery with a circumferentiallyextending partition 10 spaced from the bottom of the gutter or with inclined transverse baffles 12, Fig. 11, so as to prevent a whirling motion being imparted to the oil in the gutter which would impede its flow through the outlet 9. A partition 11, Fig. 3, may be provided also in the outlet.
