Sleeve joints with screwed parts.-The sections 10 of a drill stem &c. are coupled by sleeves 12 each of which is provided with a cushioning device comprising a rubber ring 14 located within a recess 15 formed by outwardly converging shoulders 16, 17 on the s a i d sleeve. The shoulders 16, 17 are preferably disposed at an angle of 45‹ to the base 18 of the recess, while the ring 14 is originally somewhat longer than the width of the recess and has a diameter D less than the base diameter D<1> thereof. The outer surface of the ring 14 is also concave, becoming flat when the ring is engaged by the shoulders.
