Abstract

335,237. Flower, A. L. June 13, 1929. Single-acting suction-valveless piston pumps; valve gear.- A pump for adhesives comprises a barrel 1 mounted in a reservoir 2, from which the liquid passes to the barrel through ports 3 during the suction stroke of the piston 4. During the delivery stroke, the valve 12, which is attached to the piston by a rod 11, is opened, and the liquid is forced through a pipe 9 to a perforated plate 10. A spring 6 returns the piston and valve on the suction stroke, and during this movement a portion of the liquid is withdrawn from the plate 10, leaving a thin coating.
