335,129. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of F'arnsworth, P.). Dec. 18, 1928, [Convention date]. Condensers.-A condenser is built up of alternate foils F1 - - F4 and dielectric sheets M1 - - M3, the foils extending at each end alternately and being there bent upwards and over to overlie a thicker sheet of insulation 12, these ends being separated from one another by a further insulating sheet 13, and the whole clamped rigidly in a tubular metallic housing FH by pressure. One or two terminal plates T1, T2 are placed with the foil ends, in the former case T1 with the inner set, the housing acting as the other terminal. If two are used the second plate T2 may or may not be insulated from the housing by a sheet I4. Indentations may be forced from the housing to locate the stack and prevent movement, or the upper surface of the housing may be roughened for the same purpose. The housing may not be continuous circumferentially. The stack or its elements may be dipped in molten wax so that on final pressure the surplus fills the ends W.
