Abstract

524,657. Condensers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., EDWARDS, J. C., and LARSEN, P. W. Feb. 3, 1939, No. 3655. [Class 37] In a flat-stacked condenser the conducting material 2 is disposed on each side of a dielectric sheet 1 so as to leave portions bare at opposite ends on the two sides of the sheet. Metallic end pieces 7 serve to clamp the condenser and also as terminal members for conducting leads 8 which may, for example, be held within the folds of the metal clamps, soft metal layers being placed under these bent-over parts to improve the electric connection. The electrodes may be metallized deposits on the dielectric and adjustable to correct the capacity by scraping the upper surface. One limb of the clamp 7 may be cut as shown and a part 9 bent over to secure the condenser before final adjustment. An under sheet 5 of insulation may be included, and an upper sheet 6 suitably cut to fit round the parts 9 clamped by turning down the other parts of the clamp 7. Where, say two, metallized sheets are used, a layer of soft metal may be used between adjacent coatings of the same polarity.
