440,948. Condensers. PORZELLANFABRIK KAHLA, Kahla, Thuringia, Germany. April 6, 1934, Nos. 10469, 10470, 10471, and 10472. Convention dates, May 24, 1933, Aug. 18, 1933, Oct. 10, 1933, and Jan. 24, 1934. [Class 38 (ii)] A condenser, more particularly for high frequency woik, comprises units of mica foil which have metal electrodes burnt-on and thickened if necessary, connectors clamped to the units preferably by tubular rivets, the whole being encased in casings of ceramic material of low dielectric loss. Fig. 1 shows a mica unit comprising a sheet 10 upon the two sides of which noble metal coatings have been burnt, the upper coating 12 extending round the side edge to the underside and the lower coating extending round the other edge to the top as is shown at 11. Such units when assembled alternately reversed in a stack will afford means for connecting the opposed coatings, at each end of the stack, and can then be inserted in ceramic casings which may be of prismatic tubular or cylindrical form. In the latter case the stack may be coiled up in a cylinder or spiral. In another form, Fig. 14, the stack is clamped at each end to connectors 32, 33 by tubular rivets 30, 31 which also secure the stack in a recess in a ceramic case 29 which can then be filled with insulating material 35 with or without a lid 34 of ceramic material. In a modification, a number of such encased condensers are superposed and in a further example a ceramic casing has a number of recesses side by side in each of which a mica condenser stack is mounted. In a still further modification, rolled mica condenser units are mounted in an insulating substance in the annulus between two thin walled ceramic tubes. Specification 417,395 is referred to.
