Abstract

1,149,984. Capacitors. TOBE DEUTSCHMANN LABORATORIES Inc. 9 Aug., 1967, No. 36615/67. Heading H1M. A high energy, low inductance capacitor comprises flattened, rolled, staggered foil capacitor units arranged side by side in a casing (Fig. 1, not shown), each unit having a conductive member 20 covering a major portion of a side wall and having a folded portion 21 contacting the electrode foil which extends to the bottom of the unit, the top of member 20 terminating in a tab 22 folded as shown so that its end portion 26 is parallel to end portion 18 of tab 16 soldered to the other electrode at portion 17 each set of tabs being electrically connected in parallel by one of a pair of conducting bars 60, 61. The two tabs are insulated from each other by suitable folding of insulating wrapper 19 enclosing each unit and insulating it from the casing. Casing lid 42 of insulating material has a peripheral metal flange 43 whereby it is welded to the casing walls. Lid 42 supports L-shaped terminals 40, 41 provided with sets of holes 48 for integral moulding of the lid thereto. Terminals 40, 41 are secured to conducting bars 60, 61 and separated from each other by tongue 54 of lid 42 and by sheets 55 of kraft paper. The casing is filled with oil to the bottom of lid 42.
