335,114. Krupp Grusonwerk Akt.- Ges., F. Sept. 24, 1929, [Convention date]. Breaking and scutching apparatus; grip-chain arrangements for feeding, holding, and conveying fibrous materials. - Leaves of agave, &c. plants are held transversely of their length at a point 15 a short distance from the root end and the two projecting ends are acted upon simultaneously by drums 4, 5. The grip on the leaves is then shifted and the untreated portion acted on by a third drum 13. The drum 5 acting on the root end is smaller than the drum 4. Two or more leaves may be superposed and treated together. Conveyers 2, 3 grip the leaves and remove them from the feed table 1. A second pair of conveyers, spaced laterally, holds the depulped root ends of the leaves as the drum 13 acts on them.
Improved method of and apparatus for the deoorticating, hackling, combing, splitting, or the like of sisal and like fibrous leaves, stalks and the like
