Abstract

Scutching-apparatus.-Decorticated materials are fed by a conveyer 1 round discs 2, 3, Fig. 1, in staggered relationship, and are treated on the under sides by drums 4, 5, Fig. 3, the materials lying over the tops of the drums, and then on the upper sides by drums 6, 7, Fig. 4, co-operating with a shoe. The grip on the material is shifted between the pairs of drums. The drums mav be of different diameters and the drums of each pair may be staggered so that the ends are treated successively. Specification 231,352 is referred to.
