Abstract

Fourdrinier paper-machines; guiding and. stretching mechanism.-The raising of the paper web from the wire cloth is effected automatically by the use with the raising felt of a suction cylinder 1, Fig. 1, mounted on arms 2 which are hinged at 3 and pivoted at 5, Fig. 3, to a lever 6 bearing at 14 on a knife edge 15. A damper 18 having an oscillating piston 25 and a pair of valves 24 for filling the chambers 26 from an oil supply 28 eliminates the vibrations and oscillations of the suction cylinder 1 which would produce wrinkled or broken sheets. Trimming pickup cylinders 29, Fig. 17, lined with flexible rubber and mounted in a frame 30 carrying a hinged scrape-off blade 31 are provided.
