Abstract

282,961. Duxbury, N., and Duxbury, G. Dec. 2, 1926. Doctors; calendering and pressing.-In doctor mechanism for paper-making and other machines, the doctor C is rigidly secured at each end to carriers C which are pivotally mounted by pairs of links C<1>, C<2> on brackets C<3> secured in the case of the bottom roll A of a paper calendering machine to the frame B while the doctors for the smaller rolls A' are secured to the bearing blocks thereof. Alteration of the angle of the doctors owing to wear is thus prevented. Yieldable pressure is applied to the doctor by providing a link C<6> with an outwardly extending arm C<5> to which pressure is applied by a hand operable lever C' provided with a suitable combined spring and dash pot device C'.
