Abstract
334,760. Clayton Dewandre Co., Ltd., and Currin, S. A. Oct. 17, 1929. Cooling and heating lubricant.-A pump 2 delivers oil drawn from the crank case 3 or from the storage tank of an internal-combustion engine through a heater 4 and thence by a pin 6 to a cooler 7, whence it passes to the engine by a pipe 8. A by-pass pipe 9 leading from the heater to the engine is controlled by a spring- loaded or thermostatically-controlled valve 10 arranged in a casing 12 on the heater so as to open when the resistance to flow through the cooler becomes excessive owing to overcooling. The heater 4 consists of a jacket arranged in the exhaust pipes 5, while the cooler 7 is combined with the water radiator 13.
