Abstract

332,134. Punter, J. W., and Avril, G. Sept. 25, 1929. Reflectors of white or coloured glass or other transparent material are of conical form, the generating lines being inclined substantially at 45‹ to the axis, and the base comprising a lens, so that rays incident on the lenticular surface are reflected twice before emerging from that surface. The lenticular form causes a proportion of the light to be dispersed or diffused. In a modified form the reflector comprises a central cone, Fig. 4, surrounded by one or more circular rings f having a cross-section similar to that of the central cone. In another form, Fig. 7, the base of the reflector is moved as shown, and is similarly provided with concentrically arranged prismatic surfaces, the incident rays being reflected and refracted to form a parallel or convergent beam. The base of the conical reflector may be recessed in steps to reduce the absorption of light and the weight.
