Abstract

331,889. Amalgamated Carburetters, Ltd., and Brown, C. Jan. 10, 1929. Spray carburettors.-In a carburettor in which the fuel nozzle h is controlled by a needle valve d carried by the throttle valve d<1>, additional fuel for accelerating is forced through the nozzle when the throttle is suddenly opened by a spring-loaded piston e. The piston is provided with fuel passages b, g, and is depressed by the valve d during the closing movement of the throttle. If the throttle is opened quickly, the valve d moves out of contact with the piston, which is then raided by the spring and forces additional fuel through the nozzle. In a modincation, the fuel passage b is provided in a fixed member situated below the piston and the piston is provided with a non-return valve in its interior which allows fuel to pass freely through the piston when it is depressed rapidly by quickly closing the throttle. The float chamber a may be provided with an enlargement to receive fuel which is forced rearwardly when the piston is suddenly depressed. Specifications 29843/12, 120,001 and 320,848 are referred to.
