Abstract
331,147. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Oct. 11, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 319,320. Chemicals.-The process described in the parent Specification for suppressing the formation of phosgene when carbon tetra chloride is used for extinguishing fires is modified in that an .animal or vegetable oil or fat, or mixture thereof is added to the carbon tetrachloride and ammonia in addition to the aryl or alkyl phosphates. The ammonia may be present in sufficient excess to act as the expelling agent for the mixture. An exemplary mixture comprises carbon tetrachloride, ammonia, two per cent of tricresyl phosphate, and two per cent of cocoanut fat. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that the oils or fats may be used instead of the phosphates, and that hydrocarbons may also be added to the other mixtures. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
