Abstract
306,672. Hanseatische M³hlenwerke Akt.-Ges., and Rewald, B. Jan. 23, 1928. Currying, impregnating, and the like.-Leatherdressing compositions are prepared by the incorporation of phosphatides or lecithins, other than egg-yolk, with oils, for the purpose of facilitating absorption in the leather. Oils suitable for treatment with the phosphatide bodies include fatty oils of vegetable or animal origin or mineral oils or sulphonated fatty oils. A mixture of phosphatide and oil may be emulsified with water and a small quantity of alkali or soap may be added to improve the emulsification. Phosphatides extracted from soy beans or residues obtained in the preparation of soy beans for food and containing phosphatides and their decomposition products are conveniently employed in the process. Examples of substances which may be used in conjunction with phosphatides are soy bean oil, fish oil or train oil, neats foot oil, aromatic sulpho-acids such as sulphonated butylnaphthalene, albumen together with alum, sodium chloride and wheat flour.
